Google maps simply can't be beat. It allows you to save custom stored maps. It lets you see street views so you can virtually drive/walk around particular cities. You can even change the driving directions default route to your liking!
Google maps is the best!

I use it to find paths for running. It's a great tool. You can see if there are sidewalks, etc.
